Shirley Harrell, 75, of Martinsville, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at SOVAH Health of Martinsville. She was born January 22, 1947 in Martinsville, to the late Grady Lee Brim and Carrie Ethel Spencer Brim. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carlene Long; and brother, Ervin Brim. She attended Christian View Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and baking, especially red velvet cakes, pumpkin pies, and pecan pies. She wanted to stay active and did so with walking and aerobics. She was a graduate of Carver High School. Shirley is survived by her husband, Walter Harrell; daughters, Dianna Lipscomb and Angelica Holmes; sons, Jonathan Lipscomb and Walter Harrell Jr.; brothers, James Brim (Linda) and James Martin; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 1:30 PM at Christian View Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Gregory Perkins officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Christian View Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. A floating visitation will be Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 12:00 to 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. The family will also receive friends and family at the home of Shirley’s daughter, Angelica (Geli). Wright Funeral Service and Crematory is serving the family.
